Sandra is from the North Island in New Zealand, now living
in Canberra, ACT, Australia, and has
been involved in craft making for over 30 years. Her talents are in
cross-stitch, quilt making and many other creative crafts.
Making her first soft cloth doll and pattern in 1982 made her first ‘big sale’
to James Smith’s in Wellington. These were simple cloth dolls made to stand
the wear and tear from young children.
After many years of cross stitching, quilt making (and running out of wall
space at home, plus friends and relatives to give them to) Sandra decided to
return to the craft of soft cloth doll making.
Learning from scratch and virtually self taught this hobby has turned into an
obsession and passion. This passion has turned into a magical ability to give
life into every detail and material chosen for each individual doll. These
dolls are blessed into our reality to share and enjoy.
Wanting to share this creative talent with others Sandra decided to draft her
own patterns and sell them along with her dolls.
Ideas from a piece of fabric, jewellery or picture spring into mind, a huge
list of dolls to be created! This will be an ongoing joy for a long time.
Many dolls have been sold in New Zealand, USA and Australia. Sandra has been
commissioned to make many dolls by her clients all over the world and welcomes
any challenge that a potential customer may have.
